glycerin soap melter
This soap melter station is kept locked for use with monitor/staff supervision to ensure that it is kept clean and usable.
The channel from the bottom of the pot to the nozzle tends to not melt (soap should be melted at a low temp so it's just not getting hot enough)
- so before use we need to manually clear it out.
Shutoff valve should always be turned off unless actively pouring
When soap is at room temperature, the nozzle can be gently unthreaded for cleaning.
Do not do this when soap is hot!
Carefully remove soap from nozzle if it's plugged
A drill bit will be kept with the machine -
manually twist to remove soap from tubing - do not use a drill!
It will take several attempts to go deep enough to remove most soap from the tubing.
When done, re-thread the nozzle until it's vertical (there will be some resistance - don't crank it really hard), turn shutoff valve back to "off",
and turn on heat.
Keep an eye on the pot; when it's fully melted the tubing should be full of liquid soap, and the nozzle should work.
If it stays hot the tubing shouldn't clog, but once it cools down it will need to be cleared again.
